    Mini bio
Humberto Suazo was born into a football-mad family on the 10th of May 1981. Suazo’s club career began at the age of 6, as he followed in his father’s footsteps by signing for the youth team of the Santiago-based football club, Torino.
Suazo’s displays did not take long to draw the attention of the major Chilean football clubs, and at age 14 he was invited to trial for the Universidad Católica football club.
Suazo struggled to settle into the club’s youth team, and disciplinary problems plagued his youth career. Disappointed with Suazo’s behavior, the Universidad Católica loaned the young player out to a second division side, Ñublense.

    Humberto Suazo Career
Suazo drifted around the lower divisions of Chilean football for the next three seasons, before washing up at 3rd division club, San Luis Quillot. It was here that Suazo finally began to show signs of his potential, averaging a goal a game during his first season at the club.
The following season Suazo found himself playing in the Chilean 1st division for Audax Italiano. Suazo spent two seasons with the club, continuing to score frequently, but also battling with injury, before joining top ranked club, Colo Colo.
Suazo quickly settled in to become the top scorer for the side, helping his club to win the first division title. His performances attracted interest from Mexico, and after just one year with Colo Colo, Suazo joined Monterrey.
After just two seasons in Mexico, Suazo moved to Spain to play with Real Zaragoza.
A key part of the Chilean football team, Humberto Suazo proved his worth to his country as emerging as one of the top scorers in the CONMEBOL qualifying zone for the World Cup. He was the top scorer for Chile during qualifying, scoring ten goals for his country to help Chile finish second in the competitive South American qualifying zone.
