Interior Design Tips: Decorative Bathroom Mirror Ideas

When you think bathroom mirrors, they hardly mind the epitome of style. More often a functional necessity of a form of fantasy, the mirror is often lost or forgotten in the bathroom decorating efforts. Decorating a bathroom mirror May be a bit confusing at first, but with unlimited possibilities it can provide inspiration for the whole theme of decoration in the bathroom or it may be the crowning a beautifully decorated room. If you have a vanity mirror or a flat mirror, here are some suggestions that might make your search for a drink glass at a value of research.

Obviously, in considering options for decorative mirrors, you have to remember the purpose of the object and maintain enough space on the screen to always use the mirror. You’ll also take into account the capacity for openness if it is a vanity or cabinet, this type of lighting is above the mirror and the proximity of the mirror is on other objects. Now that you have done these things in mind that it is time to browse through some options.

The first suggestion is burning your mirror. This is an excellent idea because it can be used either on an apartment or a vanity mirror and you do not have to worry about whether it opens or when the lights are. The only drawback is that it is permanent, so make sure that the thing you want before you begin. You’ll need to burn cream, a new boat brush, a knife and crafts clear contact paper. All these items are readily available in most craft stores. Decide on the model you want engraved in the glass and draw or trace it back to the paper. Choose an item from your shower curtain or wall border or a beautiful flower border that complements your design. The sky is the limit for burn patterns. You can even bring in leaves from your garden if it is to find the look you want. Once you have your model on the contact paper, the design of the craft knife. Peel and stick the contact paper on the mirror with the breaker where you want your burning. Make sure the edges of the hole are firmly adhered to the surface of the mirror smoothing around them with your fingertips. Now, following the instructions on the container, apply the etching cream to the mirror with a brush. When it is finished, based on the time provided in the directions, wash with hot water and remove the contact paper. You now have a custom mirror with very little money or effort!

A fun idea for a dressing mirror frame is flat, whether with a rough cut or cut timber, again depending on the look you want to achieve. This idea demanded to know how much space you have in the mirror and objects, including lighting equipment, mounted around or above him before deciding on the type of frame you want. If you want to use a custom image, call your local store and ask them part of how to measure dimensions. When you have your measurements, visit the store and decide on the material you want. May he take a couple of hours or a few weeks for your part, depending on the store. Once you have your part, place it around your mirror (you may need a set of hands for this) and nail in place with finishing nails (make sure the nails are long enough to through the frame and the wall). Cover the nail heads for putty or paint and presto - instant art! The process is roughly the same if you use rough-cut lumber, but you’ll need in terms of staining or painting wood. Or, if you have plenty of space around the sides of your mirror, you can mount the shutters to give the room an adventure, spring window feeling. Old strands can often be found at flea markets or antique shops. New components can be purchased at most stores of building materials and hardware stores.

Another view mirror for your bathroom is to finish it with curtains. This is easier with a flat mirror, but can be used on a vanity, especially if it is defined in the wall. For a light, airy look floral skirt or lace at the top with a rod hidden. For a more dramatic look a rich fabric drape on a heavy rod and the decoration from the left side of the mirror in the development of elegance. Again, the sky is the limit with this idea. Keep in mind that, because of moisture in a bathroom, the fabric May need to be washed more often than your living room curtains.

Although we do not always see what we want in our mirrors, maybe these ideas brighten our mirrors sufficient to improve what is reflected. After all, when we are pleased with our environment, we are more comfortable with ourselves.

Membangun Taman Diatas Atap (Roof Garden)

    Cara Membangun Taman Diatas Atap

Menciptakan Rumah Yang Sehat

    - Pertama, mampu memenuhi kebutuhan fisiologi dasar penghuni.
    - Kedua, mampu memenuhi kebutuhan psikologi dasar penghuni.
    - Ketiga, mampu melindungi penghuni dari kemungkinan terjangkitnya penyakit menular.
    - Keempat, mampu melindungi penghuni terhadap kemungkinan timbulnya bahaya kecelakaan.

                                                                    Eksterior Rumah Sehat

Interior Design Tips: How to Decorate Your Interior Without Spending a Cent!

In the current world financial situation, money no longer grows on trees! Did it ever?

Money is a lot harder to come by, people are afraid of losing their jobs, worried about their financial future and less likely to be committing to making major changes to their home interiors, but that doesn’t mean we have to sit back and put up with the status quo. We can have fun and change our interiors without having to spend a cent. We just need to get a little creative! Here are some ideas on how you can make your home feel like it has had a makeover without spending a cent.

    1. Shift furniture into different rooms, it’s amazing how a change of environment can make a piece of furniture look completely different.

    2. Rearrange your artwork on the walls, reposition mirrors - these help change the light in your room and depending on where you place them, can make a room feel larger.

    3. Clean your walls. I know this sounds too simple, but over time all the little knocks and bumps leave marks, from experience your existing walls can look like they have just been repainted if you give them a good scrub. I use sugar soap - brilliant stuff.

    4. Take down your curtains and give them a vacuum (Hoover - or whatever you call it in your country) Spot clean them, and as for above, they will look much brighter and look as good as new.

    5. Have a chat with your neighbor and see if they want to swap any home decor for a few months until you both tire of it again. This could be an area rug, artificial flower arrangement, decorative pots, sculpture, wall hanging, vases, coat stands, foot stools, cushions, basically anything that you are sick of looking at. Instead of storing it in the garage or throwing it away, share it and when it comes time to swap back, you may have created new feelings for it!

    6. Some banks, stores and credit card companies offer rewards points or dollars. Have you thought about using those to get a few new decorative items for your home. An easy way to have the feel good factor of something new without having to part with any money.

    7. Dig to the back of your linen cupboard and pull out the towels that never get used, bring them to the front and it will feel like you have new towels for your bathroom.

    8. The same can be said for bed linen, sheets, duvet covers, pillow slips, cushion covers and bedspreads. We often have more than one but forget about them stuffed down the back of the cupboard, clean out the cupboards and see what you can drag out, mix and match them in your different rooms and you have a new look! Check for throw rugs and cushions that may have been stored away, drag them out give them a dust and find them a new home and store your existing ones back in the cupboard!

    9. Look in the garage for things that have been put away. Pack up things in the house that you have had enough of looking at, and swap them over. These could be floor standing lamps, side table lamps, collections of glass figurines, children’s crafts that you just couldn’t part with, and could provide a talking point now they have grown up, a stack of vintage suitcases that you didn’t know what to do with, place a linen cover on top and use them as a side table, similar thing with old hat boxes.

    10. Paint the outdoor pots a different color, let’s face it we all have paint lying around in our garage, take it out and give the outside a revamp, perhaps paint the front door a new color, or the letterbox.

    11. Make a feature wall from spare wallpaper, if it’s textured you could always paint it to add color, or just paint a wall and make it a feature.

Well those are just a few ideas to get you started. You can take on the challenge and give your home a quick makeover by using some of these ideas, I bet you will start to think of more as you get started. If you do, add them to the comments at the bottom of this post and share them with us.

    ● Save on expensive wall decor, go through magazines, art books or even your child's art work at school and have the picture framed. Not only will you save, you will have a unique picture that is not found on commercial home decor stores.

    ● Consider an extra cabinet or storage space inside your bedroom or den, they are areas that usually invite clutter. It is important to always have your room neat and clutter free.

    ● Use warm flooring on bedroom floors like wood and carpet. Don't use ceramic tiles, marble or granite on bedroom floors. It is not pleasant to get out of bed in the morning and step on a cold floor. If a cold flooring material is already installed, put an area rug beside the bed.

    ● If you can, use the same fabric, design and color of the bedcovers as with the curtains. The room will have that "Interior Designed" look.

    ● If you want to be one with nature as the look you want for your bedroom, go with woven wood shades. These are made from renewable resources like jutes, bamboos, reeds and rattan. Cool, cozy and "green" look is achieved!

    ● If your room is small, use mirrors on the walls. It gives the room an illusion of space (If you are a Feng Shui believer, see the tips on mirrors).

    ● For bedrooms and specially dens, put an exhaust fan on the ceiling or wall farthest from the window. It will suck-in the cold air outside and keep the air inside the room fresh and cool. This can even save you electricity bills by not using your air conditioner during cool months.

    ● Some of us wants our bedrooms to be dark even late in the day specially when we sleep late. Thus some of us put up very dark curtains. Deep colored curtains against a light colored wall comes very strong. It is better to have your walls a shade darker and the curtain a little lighter to lessen the contrast. An alternative is to use two layered curtains instead one that is very dark.

    ● Aside from the typical center light on the middle of the ceiling, use lampshades, pin lights and up lights for mood lighting. These type of lighting gives dark and light patterns of light in the room.

    ● 1/3 of you life is spent on your bed. Invest in a good mattress, pillows and cotton or linen sheets -they absorb perspiration better.

    ● The bedroom is your private space, among all rooms in your home, your bedroom's look and atmosphere should be the most relaxing and reflective of your personal taste and style.

Interior Design: Living & Dining Area Tips

    ● In interior design, a focal point is important in every room. It could be a large window or painting or an interesting art piece. In your living room, arrange your furniture around a focal point. Put your biggest piece of furniture first (like the sofa) then continue with the smaller pieces of furniture down to your accent pieces.

    ● Consider the size of your living room when you buy the furniture. Don't buy oversized pieces if your room is not that big. It will make your room smaller and cramped. And also don't buy tall furniture if your ceiling is low, they will make the ceiling appear lower.

    ● If your living and dining area is on the same room, you may use a different flooring material on the dining area to delineate the space from the living area. Or you may put an area rug on your dining area for definition. A free standing screen is another good option to separate areas in your living room.

    ● If you plan to put several picture frames on the walls. it is a good idea to group them together by theme and arrange them inside an imaginary frame. They can be the focal point of the room.

    ● Before you buy you dining room set, take a good look at your space. Be sure that there is ample room to walk around the dining set even if all the seats are occupied. Interior design has a lot to do with ergonometrics, not just appearance. We sometimes have the tendency to buy bigger dining sets than our space can accommodate and push one side of the table against the wall.

    ● Many of us Filipinos tend to buy living room furniture "sets" with a sofa, two matching side chairs, with matching coffee and side tables. Be different, don't match the couch with the side chairs. In fact, in interior design, it is more fashionable to have different styled pieces put together like a modern sofa with classic or antique side chairs and different styled tables.

    ● Avoid using fluorescent (white) lighting in the living and dining areas. Food looks more inviting under incandescent (yellow) light and people's complexion too look better under yellow light. But if you really like to use fluorescent light, combine both white & yellow light at the same time.

    ● If you plan to put a chandelier above your dinning table, don't put it up so high. Lower it 3 to 4 feet from the table top.

    ● Aside from your direct light source above the dining table (a chandelier for example), add some pin lights around the room and a dimmer switch to make your surroundings more pleasing to the eye. Do the same with your living room.

    ● It is ok to put family pictures on the living room but don't put so many, specially school diplomas and trophies. They are better put in the den or your bedroom.

Interior Design Tips - Creating a Retro Style Bedroom

How to create retro bedroom decoration from the 1960’s, 1970’s, and 1980’s.

When one thinks of the word “retro”, their mind automatically goes to the decorating styles of the 1960’s and 1970’s. For more and more people, however, the 1980’s is also considered retro. Here are some ideas you can use to create a retro bedroom for yourself.

    The 1960’s.

The 1960’s was the time of hippies, and free love. Even more than that, it was a time for people to discover love of their fellow man with the emergence of Martin Luther King, J.F Kennedy, and war protests. Home decor was as bold and free as the youth of the generation.

Walls: Room decor did not necessarily come from wall colors. They came from what was hung on them. On your white or neutral wall colors, hang colorful bold flower print fabrics in two or three colors.

Fabrics: Use bold color blocked fabric for your bedding and window treatment. For example, a white background with orange circles or uneven squares. Colors to look for are orange, brown, white, celadon green, and mustard.

Flooring: Floor tiles were very popular during this time. Purchase floor tiles in two colors and install like in a checkerboard pattern. Add several throw rugs to warm your feet in the morning.

Accessories: Accessorize the room with pop art reminiscent of Andy Warhol who was famous for his paintings of Campbell’s soup and Marilyn Monroe. Lava lamps and Hawaiian tiki carvings are also great room accessories of the time.

    The 1970’s.

As the baby boomers came of age in the 1970’s, free love, war protests, and overall cultural awareness faded as disco and nightclubs became the obsession of the generation who needed to work off steam as they worked themselves up the corporate ladder. Home decor and fashions evolved greatly during this time from wild and crazy to clean lines, but bold colors remained.

Walls: Paint the room in a two-toned design like a beige on top and brown on the bottom. Two tones of any color will work well.

Fabrics: Floral designs continued to remain dominant, but more colors were added to the color palate. For your bed, purchase a cozy chenille bedspread and matching sheer curtain panels for your windows.

Flooring: Shag carpet would look great in your 70’s inspired bedroom, but you do not need to stick with the mixed shades of brown that was used to camouflage spills. Purchase your shag carpet in solid colors instead, and stick to area rugs to save money because shag carpet does not have a long shelf life.

Accessories: Mirrors and glass became the main room accessories during this period. Cover a wall with mirrors and add a mirrored disco ball to reflect the light in your room.

    The 1980’s.

During the 1980’s the baby boomers became parents and so home decor became more grown up. Patterns became more subtle, subdued, and traditional. Victorian elements re-emerged during this time.

Walls: There was a return to white and neutral colored walls. You can paint your 1980’s inspired bedroom walls white with pastel colored trim, or antique white with high gloss white trim.

Fabrics: Pastel colors became the popular color scheme during this period interspersed with subtle florals by designers like Ashley Stewart. For a more masculine room, stick with classic stripes and argyle patterns.

Flooring: During the 1980’s, carpet got colorful and shorter. Short twisted pile carpet in pinks, blues, and greens would work well in your room.

Accessories: Accessories during this period were also a bit more grown up. Glass figurines became popular for adults and hand made bunnies and stuffed animals were the main decor in children’s rooms. Photography became the wall hangings of choice from candid pictures of family members to posters of rock stars, to black and white landscapes picures.

Interior Design Tips - Decorating Oversized Bedroom

Design Ideas for an oversized Bedroom to make them feel cozier

While it can be a great joy to have an oversized bedroom, such room can be a huge challenge to decorate. It may be difficult give a large space the cozy feeling necessary in a bedroom. Here are some ideas to make your oversized bedroom more conducive to sleep, rest and relaxation.

Keep it simple: Just because the room is large does not mean that you need to fill it with lots of things like exercise equipment computer systems. These things do not promote rest. All you really need in your bedroom is a bed, the bigger the better. All other items are expendable.

Get it off the wall: In a very large room, there is no reason to place your bed against the wall. Put it in the center of the room facing the windows with the best view. It is preferable for the bed to be facing a direction so someone entering the room would not be able to see the bed, but only the headboard. You can add to more privacy to the bed by placing a large armoire or dresser with the back of it to the headboard. If the back of the dresser shows through the headboard, you can upholster the back of the dresser with fabric, to coordinate with the bed. Sleigh beds adapt well to this placement because they have high headboards.

Canopy beds would work as well because you can use fabric hanging from the bed poles as a screen. Folding floor screens can be placed at the head of the bed if you do not have a dresser or armoire that will fit in the space. For side tables, find pieces that look good from all sides like round tables instead of traditional nightstands. You can also choose to purchase a headboard unit designed for such a placement. Side tables are usually attached.

Break it up: Break the room into two or three zones, sleeping, lounging and dressing. Creating a sleeping area is obvious. Place the bed and side tables in one area of the room. For the lounging area, add sofas and chairs to the bedroom for an area to sit and talk, or even furnish an area where the children can feel comfortable. If you find you are sharing your bed with children, and want them to transition into their own beds, make sure that your bedroom sofa or lounge chair is comfortable. You may even want to add a day bed to your room. This way they can sleep in your room, but not in your bed.
Once they can sleep without being next to you, transitioning them to their own bed will be easier. For your dressing areas, you can place your dressers, armoires and mirrors grouped together and add a bench or chaise that you can sit on when dressing. You can separate the room for more privacy if you wish. To do this, add a folding screen to block the view to your dressing area or use a two-sided bookshelf. The shelves can display beautiful items on the side facing the bed, and clothing related items on the other side.
Super-size it: Buy big furniture. A big room calls for big furniture. Get a king bed size with a double pillow top mattress that sits high off the floor. Add a set of bed steps or stools so you will not have to pole vault into the bed. Instead of traditional side tables, use three or four-drawer dressers on each side of the bed. Placed next to a large bed, they will look like night tables. You can use the drawers to eliminate clutter around the bed as well. Instead of a bench or regular chest at the foot of the bed, as they will tend to look like miniatures, place a low dresser without the mirror. You will have a super sized footlocker in which you can store spare bedding. Another option for the foot of the bed is a cabinet in which a television on a hydraulic system is housed. This way the TV is seen only when it is in use. Instead of traditional dressers in a room of this size, you might opt for a full wall unit or built in cabinets instead.
Take advantage of the shape: Many large rooms are also odd shaped rooms. Use the shape of the room to your advantage. You can place one of your room zones, like your dressing area out of sight in an L-shaped room. Alternatively, you can tuck your sleeping area into the nook of a T-shaped room.
